We know the senate is trying to amend the constitution. However, Ahmed Sani Yerima, the former Zamfara State Governor and now a senator, is trying to block an amendment that will prevent marriage to underage children.
He will only succeed if we let him.

Twenty five hundred signatures is honestly just staggering because I was worried nobody would even care to look at this thing. It is so loud in my head right now thinking about how many people actually see why this is a nightmare but I have to stop pacing and figure out what the next step is.

I just blinked and saw 1000 names on this thing which honestly feels surreal because I was worried nobody would pay attention to what is happening with the senate. It is wild to think about how many people actually care about protecting children when you are sitting here typing all by yourself in a quiet room.

I see the numbers creeping up and it makes me think about how much noise we need to actually stop these people in the senate because they really think we are just going to sit back and watch. If everyone here sends this link to just a few people right now we can hit that first big benchmark and show them we are actually paying attention instead of just letting them slide.

LEAVE THE CHILDREN ALONE! Seriously what is wrong with these people in power. Disgraceful.
so sad... kids need protection not abuse. hope the senate does the right thing and stops this madness.
How can a grown man push for this?? Keep our children safe please. This is completely unacceptable.
My heart breaks for these little girls. Let them grow up first before thinking of marriage. Shame on any leader who supports this.
This is just evil. These girls are meant to be playing and learning not being forced into marriages they dont understand. God help our country.

This is horrible. Children should be in school, or if parents can not afford to send them to school at least they should be protecting them from forceful marriage resulting to such abuse. :(
