I understand the idea of changing things up a bit, but is it really fair for that decision to be made without input from the year 11 cohort, we are the ones who will be wearing the year 12 jackets, so it only makes sense that we should have a say in the design and colours. It should be a choice, not something decided for us. The Year 12 jacket is something that marks the end of our school journey. It should reflect who we are as a group, not just follow a template or someone else’s idea of what looks good. We are a diverse cohort with different tastes, and that should be celebrated and not ignored. Some people genuinely don’t like blazers and would prefer not to wear them. If blazers end up being the only option, I can honestly say I wouldn’t wear it. The colours being suggested also don’t appeal to many of us.
