I would like to ask for your assistance in presenting a proposal I have for the upcoming product Xbox One. I am unsure whether this suggestion has been made before but I would like to push for its consideration. I believe that Microsoft should work towards the implementation of "Digital Content Pre-Orders". This feature would allow users to pre-order games and other content from the Xbox Live Marketplace. In addition to pre-ordering digital content it would be outstanding if users could perform a pre-release download. By performing a pre-release download users would have the digital content on their console prior to release. However, the downloaded content would not be activated until the date of release. Upon the release of the game/content an activation code would be release to consumers via automatic activation (if internet connection is present), email notification, text message notification, or an alternative form of notification. As a result of this feature users would no longer have to wait for downloads on the day of release. Instead the content would be on their system so that users could simply pick up their controller, activate the game/content, and do what their console is meant to do...play games. Although I am unsure of the current restrictions and boundaries concerning this concept I believe that the people at Microsoft can work together and with outside developers to produce this outstanding feature just as they have with so many other great concepts. Just imagine that you are a hardcore gamer who has been excitedly awaiting a wonderful new game. As a hardcore gamer you would love it if you could play the game within minutes of its release. Luckily Microsoft's new Xbox One offers a groundbreaking new feature that is exclusive to Xbox...Digital Content Pre-Orders! However, Digital Pre-Orders would not just be for hardcore gamers. A vast population of Xbox user would benefit from the implementation of this feature. - Hardworking Xbox users who just want to come home and relax...they don't want to have to go stand in line for a midnight release or spend hours waiting on a download. - School students who can't stay up all night at a midnight release. (I am in this category. I have experienced several situations in which I wanted to get a game and play it right away but had to get some sleep before classes started the next day. However if I could have pre-ordered the game on the Xbox Marketplace I could have used my late night hours playing a new Xbox game rather than waiting in a line for hours only to come home, place the game on my desk, and go to sleep. - Users who do not have the ability to go to the store or have games shipped to their houses. Some users, such as younger children or people with disabilities might not have access to a vehicle or other forms of transportation. As a result they are left in the dust when it comes to obtaining games and other content when it is released. Furthermore, some users might not have access to a computer from which they could pre-order a game online. In addition certain users do not have access to a credit/debit card but might receive Microsoft gift cards which they could use to pre-order games directly from the Marketplace. I understand that their are a multitude of hurdles which would have to be overcome in order to make this idea into reality. However, I have great confidence in Microsoft and its development teams and feel that Microsoft is capable of achieving great things. The addition of Digital Content Pre-Orders (a Microsoft exclusive) would give Xbox One yet another advantage over its competitors. This cutting edge feature would play an important role in winning over the minds and hearts of the consumers. One sound example of such an advantage is a similar feature which is already offered by Xbox. Xbox users are granted access to Call of Duty DLC approximately one month prior to Play Station users. As a result many current PS3 users have a great desire to switch over to Xbox so as to be part of the population of happy Xbox user who are able to enjoy DLC prior to them. Digital Content Pre-Orders would: - Allow users to pre-order games and content via the Xbox Live Marketplace. - Allow users to save time and money by not having to go to physical stores. - Eliminate the wait time and hassle of midnight releases. - Allow users to download games prior to release so that they could spend more time playing on the day of release and less time waiting for downloads. - Give Microsoft an advantage over its competitors. - Prompt consumers to live on the Xbox side of life. - Ultimately lead to higher ratings and better customer satisfaction for Xbox The implementation of Digital Content Pre-Orders has many benefits and would be an outstanding addition to the Xbox One. I greatly appreciate the time you have taken to consider this suggestion and would like to offer my thanks to you.
