The Federal Reserve is keeping interest rates near zero so that the federal government pays less interest on the fourteen trilloin debt. That's Good, but it is at the expense of the Frugal seniors who saved for their retirement expecting to earn at least 5.0% on their savings. With interest rates on CD's and bank accounts at 1.0%, seniors are using their principal and will soon be on welfare rolls. I asked president Obama several times over the past few years to create a special CD or Bond which would pay seniors (age 65 or older) a minimum of 5.0%---which fell on deft ears. We should arrange a MILLION SENIOR CITIZENS MARCH ON WASHINGTON, DC, to spring the administration into action. Please pass this on to your congressmen, senators and friends. thank you, Otto Vern
