Homeschool children work just as hard if not harder than children in public school and deserve the right to participate in sports!

Living in a struggling rural community (and struggling BOE) has caused me to look at private school options. In many cases, private schools do not offer many sports programs and since my tax dollars go to our public school system why would my child not be allowed to play a sport that is not offered at the private school? I now see the struggles many parents face having to make very hard decisions regarding a balance between academics/sports. This needs to become law!

All of the children in WV should be able to play in organized sports regardless of the school they attend be it public or private.

Home schooled kids deserve the same rights as public educated kids when it comes to sports.

I have a 15 year old who is a GREAT athlete. I had to choose between poor education or a shot at sports. It came down to the fact that if he gets a scholarship to college through sports, it is all wasted if he doesn't have the education to make the grades. He should have the ability to try out. He was attending public school. He was a national honor society member. When asked why he should should be selected for NHS, he replied "because I do my homework". I had to go back and teach FUNDAMENTAL writing.
