For nearly 35 years, WUSC’s flagship initiative, the Student Refugee Program (SRP) has been resettling young refugee men and women from war torn and politically repressive countries and providing them with an opportunity to pursue post-secondary education at a Canadian university or college. At the frontlines of the SRP are students like us from over 60 universities and colleges in Canada including Ryerson University, the University of Toronto, Université Laval, and Mcgill University. In order to make the Student Refugee Program possible and sustainable, WUSC student groups collaborate closely with their community, their student union, and administration to obtain the necessary funding and in-kind contributions needed to support a student for a minimum of 12 months. Hence, we are asking for Concordia University campus' support for the Student Refugee Program through this online petition. A formal and official referendum for the implementation of the SRP at Concordia will be presented this semester.
