WUSC has formally agreed to adjust the grade requirements to reflect the current educational landscape in Kenya. This change restores a fair opportunity for many qualified students who were previously excluded by outdated metrics. I am deeply appreciative of the persistence that brought this outcome to fruition.

As of 2015, World University Service of Canada(WUSC) has increased the minimum required grade for someone to apply for the Student Refugee Program (SRP) from B (for boys) and C+(for girls) to B+(boys) and B-(girls). The change was made in 2015 due to high number of applicants at that time. However, since then, a change in the Ministry of Education in Kenya has impacted the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results of the whole country. Notably, the number of As has reduced from what previously was 200 for certain individual elite schools to just 300 for the whole country (300 out of 500,000 students). Similarly, the number of students getting each of the grades from A-, B+… C+ has reduced and the population shifted to the lower grades due what the Kenyan Ministry of Educations said to “an attempt to improve the quality of the education and prevent grade inflation”.
While there has been a decrease in the performance of the students, WUSC still uses the B+/B- criteria.
This petition is to request WUSC to account for the current status of Kenya and adjust the grade accordingly or use the B/C+ system.

WUSC should reconsider the grade and reintroduce B/C+ system. If they could increase the grade because the applicants were many due to high performance, then why not reduce the grade because the qualifying students are now small due to countrywide poor performance caused by the change in the ministry and other factors
Due to reform in Kenya education system there has been significant change in performance of which refugees are not exempt! Even Kenya government scholarship has lower grades WUSC should lower grades to B for male and B- for female
If WUSC really is to change lives. It should change the lives of the refugees in the camps. We are told that there are urban refugees and the positions are limited therefore the grades are raised. What is more, the quality of the education in the camps is deteriorating.
WUSC went by the waves of grade inflation... As a student of WUSC in Canada, I would kindly ask for a similar(somehowly opposite) shift of the grades in this time of grade deflation. Thank you.
Dadaab refugees,high school children are performing poorly for the last 3 years since the grade for wusc in raised up.This year the number of students atained B+ z very less so we ar requesting the grade should be returned to B plain
I am requesting that the WUSC to consider the refugee students just to make B- for boys and c plain for girls that is my petition

I am the above named person.I finished my studies in the year 2016 with B- as mean grade .we,as the refugee students we would the WUSC to downgrade the grades for both girls and boys so that students could further their studies
