I am international graduate student of Wayne State University. As we know there is a great problem of on campus and off campus housing today, since all the apartment buildings are waitlisted. It is very difficult for international students to find anything 1000 of miles of away from home. Seeing today’s scenarios, students aren’t able to find accommodation on temporary basis too. So we thought of a solution that can be suggested. We have 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom, and 3 bedroom apartments on campus. In these apartments, 2,4 and 6 people live respectively. If housing can officially declare that 3,5 and 7 people can live in each apartment, it will be very helpful. And international students can certainly adjust with this. And if we calculate the waitlist and these increased occupancy in apartments, the waitlist can be decreased to a great extent. This will be a great help for everyone. It’s very difficult to do anything today until and unless WSU housing takes up any initiative. And we thought of this as a solution. Housing can increase the rent if they think maintenance charges are required, but atleast students can get a roof to stay under. Let’s put our word in front of the committee and ask them to take some decision to help us out. An email to housing has already been sent regarding this proposal.
