Since Texas game licenses, tax dollars, and park fees support the park operation, designated areas should be allowed for responsible detecting from citizens such as myself that pay into the system.

Yes indeed they should allow metal detecting in State Parks, after all, it is with Public funds that these Parks were bought and maintained with. At the same time Public Beaches should also be opened up.

detecting is not going to destroy anything, but it does keep young kids out of trouble, gives them something to do and can be very educating.

I am a senior there seems to more an d more things being taken away. If you want us to check in with the park ranger that's ok. Punish the people that don't and confiscate there equipment if they don't follow the rules but don't ruin it for the one's that do follow the rules.

My wife and I are retired and we just moved to Texas. We enjoyed recreational metal detecting in the Michigan state parks back home. It gave us an outside hobby that let us enjoy the outdoors. I hope that Texas will open up recreational metal detecting in the future. It is a very enjoyable pass time.

Metal detector folks do way more good than harm, they remove the metal trash that people get cut on and they remove lead from the waterways that harm not only fish but also people.
