Would many teachers attend the Wellington Festival of Education during a weekend?

In the past, I've attended several Teach Meet / CPD events on Saturdays and in the evening after work. Missing a day off work is so expensive for my school. Further, I find it difficult to sacrifice a day's work for my students- especially the year 11 classes.

It is a great festival and it's cost makes it accessible, if it was during the school week it would be much harder to attend due to cost of cover, with only maybe one or 2 members if staff being able to attend.

A teachers' event in school time will only be attended by teachers from rich schools who are happy for their students to sit in cover lessons all day. I am not such a teacher. Many schools are rightly taking steps to cut back on cover lessons.

I've attended 5 Saturday edu conferences so far in 2014. Saturday events for teachers in term time are the only real option. We *can't* take time off for a conference. We've got students to teach.

Yes - no cover allowed. Would make a weekend of it with the family.

Yes. Very unlikely to be allowed out for even one day, so at least one weekend day would be perfect! Would be real shame if classroom teachers were unable to attend such a superb event :(

Yes. Classroom teachers are unable to take a day off in term time. Of course it makes sense to have an even that directly concerns them taking place when they can actually go. Thank you Andrew.

Thought that this was an excellent event that colleagues would enjoy, but school would be unlikely to be able to release more than one or two to attend weekdays.

I'd love to attend the Wellington festival, but as a primary school teacher I can't take a day out of school. I'd happily go on a weekend though, and have recently attended some excellent conferences that took place on weekends or evenings.
