as part of the Canada Labour Code and SMS ( safety management system ) this issue should have been dealt with already. No Canadian in this day and age should have to deal with unsafe work conditions.

It is not okay to leave the onus for a safe workplace in the hands of employees, they should not be forced to regulate the unsafe practices of their employers. They need the support, guidance and regulation of their local labor ministries to force their employers to care and do the right thing in the interest of worker safety.

This regulation is a little grey cloud in the rope world, allowing employers to dodge safety requirements, the regulation as it stands does not do anything in terms of keeping our workers safe. Why do you think all of the high rise companies have been using SPRAT for years in BC? Chair guys are cowboys and employers know how dangerous of a threat they are. I was a chair guy, and we prayed for our life before getting over the edge. It's nerve wracking to not be 100% sure of the equipment you are using and not really being prepared for an emergency. We need to protect our workers, our employers, and the general public walking below these guys. I've made the switch from old to new, and you should too!

It is not only BC that needs Bosuns Chair reform . there are many other municipalitys and nations need to look at standardising with an ausitable ISO/IRATA/SPRAT/ARA safe system of work.

Rope Access in the past few years has really proven to be a safer and more affective means of access for not just the industrial industry. But commercial window washing all over the world.
