I'm genuinely concerned I'll have to end a career I enjoy before I'm ready. It's honestly nuts how the expectations for sonographers have grown so much, and I would love it if there were more regulations to prevent abuse by employers.

Help us help you! We love what we do but almost all of our careers are shortened and lives changed by injuries from scanning to many patients in too short of time! We want to do our best for our patients but end up rushed through exams with all kinds of injuries. Sonography should be a great career but ends up being a stepping stone for many people as our bodies struggle to handle more than 20 years in this environment

I stand in solidarity with my colleagues. Our profession should not disable us and our patient load should not injure us.

Done echo and vascular for 27 years and have have had 3 hand surgeries, rotator cuff injury and multiple nerve blocks in my low back. I hurt every day and need to retire but need the insurance... this has gotten worse as the technology has improved and the scans are longer..strain, 3D heart modeling, tissue doppler, TAVR and mitraclip studies, etc. Couple all that with the drive from hospital administration to increase productivity numbers and you have a recipe for sonographer injuries.

If a pitcher or a quarterback gets hurt during a game or practice, he is taking care of. Why is it so different for a sonographer? We don't get a week off after the game either & we work 8-10 hours a day & we don't get an off season. I don't believe a pitcher could do that.
