A Pledge for Muslim Americans

The undersigned unequivocally states:

We are alarmed by the growing threat of homegrown terrorism and radicalization within the US; We are dedicated to understanding this threat and building community resilience against it– in our homes, schools, community centers and online; We are committed to establishing partnerships with policymakers, law enforcement officials and public officials at the federal, state and local levels to engender trust between the government and Muslim American communities; We are steadfast in supporting shared American and Islamic values of religious freedom, pluralism, non-violent conflict resolution, and the preservation of our country’s rule of law; We will persevere to provide the American public a better understanding of the diverse Muslim population in the US and to demonstrate our commitment to solving this crisis; We call upon policymakers, law enforcement officials and public officials to engage with local Muslim communities beyond the scope of meeting with large, national Muslim organizations and to build common ground on issues of mutual interest.
