I would urge Worcester not to make the same mistake that Tewkesbury are making. Reducing pool size reduces flexibility.

It’s a disgrace that Worcester and its county does not have a 50m pool so it is unbelievable that the council is so short sighted that they cannot even provide an 8 lane completion pool.

I happy to support Worcester Swimming Club's petition. Even better if it was a full 50m Olympic pool! Of course, it's not just about top-level swimming but it's vital that all learn to swim and it's such a great sport to be encouraged for many reasons. Sansome walk swimming pool is an embarrassing example of what this city has to offer in terms of public facilities. Building such a facility will generate revenue and will encourage the attendance of the public rather than joining privatised sports facilties, which has been an issue raised in the media recently. I enjoy living in worcester but feel it is becoming a poor second to the likes of Malvern, Cheltenham and surrounding towns and cities. Please do a proper job in this instance and install an eight lane pool. Something for the residents in this city to be proud of and family friendly. Currently i will always opt to take my family to Malvern Splash, it would be fantastic if i could take my children to a pool in walking distance. If money is an issue then ask the community for help, propose collaborative fund raising ideas and activities. Perhaps I'm being naive but it can only help.

Why not build a pool that will really enthuse families and children about swimming? 6 lanes isn't enough for busy times at a disintegrating pool so how will it be enough once we have a pool that is clean, with working showers and people want to visit?

An 8 lane swimming pool would add to the list of places (such as the Hive) that would really put Worcester on the map. As an ex Club swimmer, I believe it hugely important to bring this sport to as many as possible, competitive, learning or for fun!

Worcester should have better facilities for people who cannot afford private gym /pool memberships. My child has had swimming lessons at sandsome walk and because of issues with the pool lots have been cancelled. This is not fair on anyone; We need new facilities for the demand also.

Travesty if we do not have a competitive pool in Worcester. Not only for the City, but the wider area. We live on a river Children need to learn to swim as a life skill.
