As a resident of Woolwich, I was infurated by the demolition of the General Gordon Post Office, and the rather poor excuse as to why such a descision was given the go ahead.
The lifeless, poorly designed open space that leads up to the new Tesco supermarket lacks any character whatsoever.
Now to hear that the goregous art-deco building, formerly home to the Co-Op, is, as I feared, not safe from the mighty force of 'redelveopment' it leaves one feeling rather depressed that another piece of true craftmenship will be lost to yet another of these disgusting indistinguishable lumps of so-called architechure that are spouting up all over London like Japanese Knot Weed.
It was not Jerry that Woolwich should have feared, but rather the current administration overseeing this wreckless destruction of the things that once gave Woolwich a soul.

Woolwich is losing all its character. Stop tearing down these beautiful buildings just to put up ugly glass boxes everywhere.

Keep the deco frontage at least. It would look way better than the modern rubbish they want to build.

Grew up in Woolwich and that building has always been there. It would be a crime to let it be destroyed for another bland block of flats.
