During slavery in the United States, women were considered less than human like slaves and were considered a mans property to own his wife. Women were not allowed to go to school. Women were not allowed to vote. Women were to keep quiet and let their husbands make decisions. Black women slaves were raped by the white women slave owners and had children outside of wedlock. Women were not allowed to work. The struggle for women rights is important for every girl and woman to know and believe there is hope for change, that woman are important and valued in society that this behavior was acceptable then and should not be allowed today in America and anywhere.

Freedom means each person makes their own choice. If we need permission from someone else, then we are not free.
