WomenPowerConnect (WPC) launches campaign against geneder based violence on International Women Day
Every manifestation of aggression against a woman shows in some manner that it is gender-based violence: rape and incest, sexual harassment, sexual violence against women detainees or prisoners, acts of violence against displaced women, trafficking of women, child marriage, sex selective abortion and domestic violence. Gender based violence cuts across boundaries of culture, class, education, income, ethnicity and age and not only devastates the lives of women and children and fractures communities, but also impedes development. Despite the fact that a great deal of progress has been made in estimating the prevalence of domestic violence, there are still no official statistics on actual frequency of all the various forms of gender based violence. It is up to us, as individuals, to initiate the process of change-to stand up and take action-to say enough is enough!

This is a campaign designed by WomenPowerConnect (WPC), a national level organization of women’s groups and individuals working together for formalizing the process of legislative coordination and protecting the interests of women in India.
