Let the General Church embody in the structure of its clergy this simple command: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

In order to justify the enormous waste of talent and passion that the prohibition of women from the ministry creates in a Swedenborgian church (as well as the harm done to every girl or woman [or man for that matter] who needed, needs, or will need a female minister), Swedenborg would have to plainly say in his writings that women should be prohibited from the ministry. He does not. This prohibition is not based on truth. It is a sexist-based interpretation of Swedenborg’s writings producing a social injustice that is long overdue for an overhaul.

I believe strongly in hope. I love the idea that essence of Christian hope is "Hope is love stretching into the future." A balanced church, a true embracing of life-giving partnerships ... hope lies there!

Women have spiritual needs that cannot always be comfortably addressed by male ministers. It's time women congregants were able to receive support from clergy who are their same gender. Please end this discriminatory policy that under-serves women and girls in our church institutions. It's time we did better. Thank-you.

The GC was formed with the idea that it should be separate and distinct. The language of the founding principles and the experience of many in the church is that of judgment and exclusion. It's time for us to honestly examine this behavior and follow the Lord's example and strive for inclusiveness, fairness and love.

The Lord adapts to serve people, so that they hear, listen, integrate what God has to give. Women do this too, and it's time to give women a chance to serve, as the Lord leads them, through this beautiful faith.
