What and how is this benefiting the community??.. Are outside developers saying what we should do with our communities??. We don't need another HOTEL, anywhere in this city.

This in no way complements the neighborhood, nor will a motel encompass a "gateway" to the downtown area. just another bottleneck.

i am no in favor of a hotel. It goes against the historic nature of this neighborhood.

Growth and development without adequate infrastructure or a significant impact on city revenues and the overall quality of city life are crazy objectives. Why place the thing further down near to Ridge Street and US HWY 64, so it can sit half empty like those that are already down in that area. Put the money into preserving and increasing public housing to meet the needs of the increasing growing homeless population both in and outside of the SIA.

This neighborhood does not need a hotel. If we're going to develop, let's do it right.

Please don't make it easy to disfigure an important entrance into the center of town and please don't waste the chance to help create a development that really will (unlike this present offering) produce real economic good for the neighborhood and the City.

I agree with everything that is being said in the petition. The community does need to be asked before putting this hotel up,like we don't already have enough hotels. I'm scared that we will not have residents of Charlottesville. We will just have tourists of Charlottesville. Please make this happen!!!

First consideration reds to be for the residents and property owners of this neighborhood. Find a way to get their support or move it where it's welcome

One councilor, Kristin Layng Szakos, has repeatedly insisted that the council is not voting on whether there should be a hotel or not...this is true. Technically, that was decided years ago. What IS being voted on is whether council is going to make it easy for the developer (Southern Development) to build a big box hotel on the historic land by approving the amendment against the community's wishes or whether we will hold the developer to actually engage with the community, honor the historic nature of the land, honor the planning commission and neighborhood, stay with their original PUD or submit another. Asking council to reject this amendment is the only way to slow down Southern Development and potentially move to not have a big box hotel on the land.

The councilors from out of town are trying to destroy the neighborhoods we call home. Time to stand up fight for the home team.

I am against the building of this hotel at Ridge and Cherry. It will be incongruous.

That hotel will not fit the character of the neighborhood!

We already have ONE monstrosity sitting on the corner of Ridge and MAIN St. What an eyesore! Is ANYTHING being developed for us who've lived here and paid taxes here ALL OF OUR LIVES?!
