(Photo-shopped image of the tabernacle behind the altar is an artist's rendering.)

According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church: "The Tabernacle is to be situated in a most worthy place with the greatest honor. The dignity, placing, and security of the Eucharistic tabernacle should foster adoration before the Lord really present in the Blessed Sacrament of the altar....However, when there is a Eucharistic chapel that is not so prominent and conspicuous from the main body of the church, even though it be in the same church building, there will also be a tabernacle in the main body of the church serving as a sign of the Lord's Presence there."

  • Only parishioners of St. Aidan's may sign the petition.
  • Please do not sign if you have already signed the paper petition.
  • Please note that this petition is for those people who wish to move the tabernacle to behind the main altar.
  • Only those who are 18 and older can sign the petition.

Thank you and God bless.

Moving the tabernacle feels like a mountain task some days because the silence from the parish office is heavy. I spend my evenings reading your messages and remembering exactly why we started this push for a more worthy placement. We are not turning back now.

Reaching this point has been a long and draining process that often felt like shouting into the void. Seeing this level of engagement reminds me why we started this difficult conversation in the first place.

I always pray that Jesus is the centre of our worship. The Tabernacle should be placed in the most prominent place - the center of the Church. When parishioners enter the church, we have no need to look for the Tabernacle elsewhere. God Bless! Praise our Lord, Jesus Christ!

Having our Lord Jesus Christ at the centre of the church is in keeping with the Latin Mass and in keeping with our Lord at the centre of the table at the Last Supper. Secondly, entering the church, ones gaze cannot ignore Our Lord and one must bow and pay homage to Our Saviour regardless of our sinner nature.

JESUS in the Blessed Tabernacle MUST be in the very centre of the Altar, being the SON OF GOD, the KING OF KINGS, our LORD, SAVIOUR & REDEEMER. HE deserves the CENTRE OF ATTENTION, ATTRACTION & WORSHIP by all the people, parishioners & visitors of the St. Aidan's Church.

Let us focus our attention on the Bl. Sacrament. Let us also have Ad Orientém back, priest and congregation faces Christ. Priest prays for congregation facing Christ.

Willing to contribute to cost. Our Lord is supposed to be in the centre of the church. When people enter they should see Him in the centre.

I'll be happy if the tabernacle is moved to the center of the altar. Most traditional churches have it there.

I fail to see the need of recording once again one's preferred location of the tabernacle in the church. Perhaps there is a situation of which I am unaware. My stance on the matter is underpinned by my post Vat. 11 experiences in many churches in various countries. Certain homilists have also enlightened me including our own Fr. Steven. Thank you, Father.

Yes, I would like the Tabernacle to be moved or located in the middle.
