My name is Heidi Bratt, and I am an activist and legislative liaison to the state of Massachusetts for alopecia areata. I have been fighting for over 10 years to get this bill passed. This petition is to pass the senate bill 523 and have health insurance companies pay for hair prosthesis -wigs for people that have alopecia areata. Health Insurance Companies refuse to reimburse for wigs for patients battling alopecia in the state of Massachusetts and throughout the US. Insurance companies currently reimburse cancer patients for wigs going through chemotherapy but not for patients that have alopecia areata varients totalis and universalis. Wigs are very expensive and we need your help to set a standard for every patient that needs a wig no matter what disease they have. This autoimmune disease effects over 4 million men, women and children throughout the US. With 2% effected in Massachusetts. Please sign our petition to pass this vital law that discriminates between diseases. For more information on this disease visit www.naaf.org Thank you so much! Your signature counts!
