A Vote on Trans Women Joining Women's Institutes

I believe women should have the right to meet together and I opposed to men being part if the WI, even men in wigs and frocks who say they "feel like" women. I believe the WI should only be open to biological women

Woman is a protected characteristic for a reason. We should not bow to pressure and include men. Whilst we recognise and are sympathetic to their plight, the solution is not to erode the protections of women

We should be able to hold meeting for women only

I looked to join a WI group, but decided against it due to the inclusion of trans women. Women, who are still fighting for true equality and recognition of needs, require a women only group and meeting space.

I can only join once the WI follows the Supreme Court’s ruling

We have them in our federation. One was on the Fed board. Isle of Wight fed. People are scared to comment so afraid to debate freely.

The WI must be biological females only, otherwise what is the point.

I was looking to join the WI but won't now that I know they let males join. What does "live as a woman" even mean if you aren't female?! There's no such thing. I don't think that as women we should have to explain why we want to have a women (FEMALE!)-only organisation. I like the idea of a "man shed" because they seem to have fun activities going on, but I would never join one because men have the right to their own spaces, as women should too. Any male wanting to invade what should be a female-only space is, to me, already a predator of sorts, because he is trying to invade a space in which he knows women don't want him there. Whatever activity he claims to want to do, he can already do in mixed-sex setups: he doesn't need the WI to make jam or to learn to knit. But people who are clued in to these kinds of men know that he will come for other reasons, and I'm not signing up to be anyone's validation or to be part of anyone's kink.

I looked into joining the WI a few years ago wanting to meet up with like-minded women with similar interests. When I found out that their definition of women included men, I turned on my heels immediately. Men have their own clubs, we should be able to have our own. I have since joined Tangent, part of the Round Table which has also sadly been captured by the men-are-women-if-they-say-so brigade. However, they have at least allowed Tangent to make their own decisions on who can be included locally and we are all very much of the mind that no men will ever be admitted. Ladies Circle, our sister group for younger women have been forced to accept them. Our local group shut down. Make of that what you will!
