Wayzata, sign this to keep the start times as they currently are
1. The later start times will result in later end times, which in turn will result in students arriving home later, getting homework done later and going to bed later. Changing the start times will not give students more sleep because the students will be up late.
2. The later start times will result in extra curricular activities and sports ending later, which will keep students out much too late. In addition, activities often must take students out of school for the last 20 minutes to get to an event, but with the later start times students will miss an entire class, resulting in large amounts of make up work and frustration for teachers. For example, every week during track season the coaches take out about 500 kids, and with later start times this would be 500 students missing an entire class.

I just saw the notification that we hit a hundred signatures and I honestly had to double check the screen because that happened way faster than I expected. It is wild to think about all those students and parents actually agreeing with me because sometimes it feels like I am just shouting into the void about these bus schedules and track meets.

Think of the elementary school kids who will be arriving at home before their older siblings with no one to watch and help them. More families will have to get daycare. But maybe you knew that, hmm WPS?
If sleep deprivation is the primary concern, the school board should also evaluate the quantity of homework assigned to students. Otherwise, little will be accomplished (if anything).
As an honors student and AP student, I know that I will get the same amount of sleep. I go home, do my homework, and then go to bed. Making a later start time would only increase my usual bedtime of 11 to 12.
I hope you take this into consideration, people who are busy with sports and schoolwork would really appreciate this staying the same. This isn't as big of a problem, and parents are the ones who are making the decisions, not us. We deserve to have a say, not just the school board.
Divorced parents whose kids live in two separate houses and can't ride the bus from one of those houses already have a hard enough time driving their kids to school and getting to work on time.
If you change the start times students will have to stay up later because of extracurriculars, so even if the start times change it won't be of much benefit.
Current time works best for high schoolers as they have time to do things after school. And changing middle school times to accommodate this change doesn't work as most of these kids have after school activities and sports which will be hard to continue

This will result in a lot more missed classes for any kids in athletics. Middle school kids who compete on the high school nordic team will get to practice just as it is getting dark.
