Can't afford dining out anymore and am challenged by multiple chronic illness for several years of my 'lapsed' patronage. However, will resume, at least to have an alcohol-free drink or two and play at the Mon Black-board as soon as I can, and bring visitors as was my previous show of support. I was one of the first kitchen volunteers in the first month of operation in this Co-operative and will do all I can, personally, to see this venue stay open. An Open, General meeting (past and present Members and supporters from the Community) along with Directors could agree on a number of strategies to prevent closure at a future time. This Club IS as much of Maleny's 'heart-beat' as was The Maleny Folk Festival. Let's not just support, but reinforce it's on-going excellence and development ongoing.

We don't have many live music venues on the Sunshine Coast n certainly no others which offer the variety of music that the Upfront Club does. The open Mike sessions give local people an opportunity to showcase their music or practice their performing skills. It has become embedded in the cultural life of the hinterland and the Sunshine Coast...true community expression! Please keep it going.

as someone said, Maleny without the UFC is like Paris without the Eiffel Tower. I am in grief at the very thought of it not being here

As an ex-manager of the club I know how hard it is to keep it afloat. Hopefully this situation will remind everyone of its value. It's an iconic place - let's not lose it.

The Up Front Club is a Maleny icon and a core asset to the community. It delivers multiple benefits to the community not only tangible (such as employment, tourism, sale of regional produce) but also intangible as a music venue for emerging and local talent, an exhibition space for local and regional artists, a speak easy for community groups and a community building venue for visitors, new and regular residents. In short it is the cultural creative nexus of the town which would lose much of this talent to more adventerous local venues in other councils if it were to close.

Great venue it must not be allowed to close down! I'm not aware of the issues surrounding its continuation in its current format but I certainly support all efforts to keep the doors open. I would appreciate more information from somebody?

The Upfront club was hatched with Jill Jordon, myself and Veronica Davidson 20 yrs ago.... unknown to us Jill always propped the place up financially ....this is an unfortunate situation and considering the time frame the financial workings of the club have never really worked....I feel the club needs to be run on a commercial basis with a designated owner....Its a great concept, but history proves the model has run its coarse...it makes me sad as ive see and played some great music there over the years....whats the solution?????
