The need for a local supermarket is unquestionable. The usual argument that it will harm small business has kept every form of progress out of Whitehall for decades and is the major contributor to its present malaise.

I grew up in Whitehall, there are alot of folks that do not have transportation to go out of town and shop for food! This town should be able to support a grocery store that has reasonable prices. It's not right that this town has been without a grocery store for so long.

We need a grocery store in our town. I have to drive 30 minutes from my home both ways to put food in my house. There is no reason why this town should go without a grocery store. We do have a Dollar General in town but there is no way to do all your shopping there. We have a lot of lower income families that do not the means to drive 30 minutes ti shop anywhere else.

I never go to green mountain,well,since I needed aluminum foil and a couple other things and all they had was a 10 mile roll of it 4 $40,

Ummmm, there is a free market system in this country. Green Mountain is a restaurant supplier and Dollar General is traditionally a dry goods store, Both do retail food outlets as a sideline.
I'm sure Green Mountain will survive as most of there business is bulk foods. That's why everything you buy there is sold in a #10 can!
I am not sure who this this petition is intended for, as local government has tried to secure a grocery store in the past, but demographics do not support the investment as to the limited population that would be served. As a result, Granville has had better luck as to the population of its area that spreads into Vermont and central Washington County.

Green Mountain Market does a great job of catering to the wholesale food market and it is great they are meeting your needs. If I need a number 10 can of of something, or I want to shop for bulk items, then that is the place to go in our area. Unfortunately they are not meeting my needs as a grocery store and by the majority of comments it appears that others feel the same.

Uhmmm Whitehall has a grocery store. Green Mountain Marketplace has done a very good job in meeting the needs of the local residents. Between Dollar General and Green Mountain you can get almost anything you need food wise. If we were to have a chain store come in then it would put them out of business, I will not support that
