Agree that the White Hart Lane crossing needs a footbridge, and it should be cycle-friendly, with a cycle rail to help cyclists - children and adults alike. The Mortlake footbridge needs the same.

A crossing here is much needed. Unfortunately because the gates along this line including those by Mortlake station remain closed for so long it encourages people to take risks when the gates are about to close. A major disaster is waiting to happen.

There would be far fewer problems at this crossing for pedestrians and road users alike if pressure was put on Network Rail to ensure that the barriers are NOT left down for train after train after train, often with long gaps between. This may result in some trains being delayed for a few minutes - but why not? Pedestrians, cyclists and car drivers are constantly delayed at this and other nearby crossings on this line. Why shouldn't rail travellers share in the misery? Perhaps Zac Goldsmith could investigate whether Network Rail could be fined for unnecessarily obstructing the highway?
I don't think the expense of a footbridge is worthwhile, and I very much doubt that it is practically possible as the council has allowed residential development right up to the edge of the railway line.

A foot bridge is long overdue, there should be one where pedestrians cross most frequently, i.e. White Hart Lane.

Brilliant and essential idea to have a foot bridge at this point; there always is a crowd of people waiting and it becomes very dangerous with the cars so close

Health and safety is of paramount importance but the gap between opening the barriers seems to bear no resemblance between the time between the arrival of the trains and an alternative means of crossing the rails is urgently required.

This would be a significant improvement to both safety and accessibility. Currently pedestrians are forced to wait on the road for the gates. A footbridge would be an excellent idea.

This is, of course, a good idea in principle, but there is already a footbridge at a similar level crossing, on nearby Sheen Lane at Mortlake Station, which is rarely used.
I have often sat in my car for some time, waiting for the crossing to re-open, and could count on the fingers of of one hand the number of pedestrians who bother to use the footbridge, while a large number gather waiting for the gates to open.
I regularly use both these crossings and would estimate there is a larger number of pedestrians crossing at Sheen Lane throughout the day than I have ever seen in at White Hart Lane, among them many mothers with small children.

I have lived here since 1963, and crossed over that line first with my children and then with my grandchildren. It has always felt a dangerous place to me, and a good footbridge would be very welcome
