Do not further intensify and worsen the police violence against this justifiable and necessary protest movement. Vote no on this agenda item. Everyday people who are protesting peacefully are being critically injured by police who lack proper training and have shown in recent days they are incapable of proper restraint. I am a Family Medicine Physician living and working in Sacramento, CA.
Please help our communities and our healthcare system address these intense challenges including police violence, COVID, and climate change. We could direct more attention and funding towards social wellness or even essentials like PPE rather than spending so much money on militarizing our police while simultaneously not holding enough accountability in rooting out systemic racism.

As a publicly supported medical student I attend UC Davis School of Medicine. As a MPH public health practitioner and a rising third year I intentionally chose to pursue a medical training program that with a strong emphasis on community health. I am enrolled in one of the UC PRIME programs at UCDSOM. I strongly believe that addressing public health in conjunction with medical sciences is the BEST way to holistically and inclusively support the health of patients and communities. If we ignore the social determinants and influences of health then we, in the sectors inside and outside of medicine and the health care, are not being socially responsible to best care for each other.
