Celebrating Columbus about how he "found" America (notice the quotations) is very contrversial but in my opinion he shouldn't be celebrated.

Columbus Was not a supporter of social justice as a result we need lots of safe spaces and trigger warnings even hearing his name gets me triggered we should just ban every idea I don't like (CRINGE intensifying)

Christopher Columbus unfairly treated the Native American people very poorly, and without even the smallest pinch of respect. Columbus's actions would today be deemed unconstitutional. We should not celebrate unfairness and discrimination.

We shouldn't celebrate these types of people. It is important that we know the real facts about people. Columbus brought diseases like smallpox to the americas. Innocent people died. Also, it is horrible that we have "Columbus day sales" which exploit the things people taught us before about Columbus being good and profiting from a killer.

The idea that Columbus was a noble, good, man is like saying a rock is a living breathing thing. It just isn't right. The facts prove it! If you want to NOT celebrate freedom and equality and peace, them by all means, go ahead and celebrate Columbus. But if you want to celebrate those who deserved better, who should never have been wiped away, them celebrate Indigenous people's day!

Why should we celebrate a destroyer of indigenous culture and people?!?! The indigenous people that came before us didn't deserve to be destroyed, terrorized, and forced into slavery! Why on earth would ANYONE want to celebrate Columbus, terrorizer, destroyer, enslaver!

I wonder why they named that day Columbus Day when he did nothing but hurt people. I just don't understand. I agree with this whole thing. I am glad you made this petition. Thank you.
