Actually Saturday teams 100% had to go to playoffs as well. It was just arranged so that the Thursday teams played Thursday teams and the Saturday teams played Saturday teams.

I've been a USTA captain for many years, and ironically the season we finally went undefeated was the year the DTA changed the rule. I too agree that the first-place team should advance to Cities. I've gotten to know many of the DTA staff, and I know they work hard to make our league fun and competitive. They also poll captains frequently, so they clearly value players' opinions. For example, they requested feedback on playing one line of singles versus two during the Fall season. Perhaps they will consider this issue as well. Regardless, USTA in Dallas is great!

For flight winners to go undefeated within their flights and then have to play in the playoffs is unfair! Also we have seen this spring season Saturday teams vs Thursday teams be tread differently. The flight winners for Saturday league advanced to city playoffs and no playoffs needed, but the Thursday teams had to do playoffs again! Where is the justice here?

Not happy about the change that was made. More tennis?? That's the reason our pro told us!? :( If we want more tennis, we know how to make that happen. I think we would have made it to Nationals if this was not changed this year.

It is very hard to get enough players together and when having to make so many playoffs during summer months when vacation is popular is almost impossible. Coming in first place should be an automatic advancement.

Absolutely this should change!

Wining should mean something, but you realize there are so many flights, that there might not be room for anything but them.

I agree that after having an undefeated season, my team should have advanced directly to the city tournament, not been sent to another playoffs tournament. Thank you for your consideration.

Absolutely! Winning first should mean something.

I support this! Also, believe including 2nd and 3rd place teams in playoffs would up the competitive fight during the season. Great idea!!

Dallas is such a competitive region, I understand the DTA trying to encourage more teams in the playoffs, but it makes it a hardship to be in town 8-9 weeks and then for two weeks of city playoffs after WINNING the league outright. It's right before school starts and people are on vacation. The way it is set up now doesn't benefit a team to come in first place. We shouldn't have to jump through a extra hoop above what the men's league expects. Thank you for all your hard work. We all do appreciate that you are trying to encourage Ladies Tennis.

I really believe DTA had the best intentions for women's tennis last year when they changed the format & renamed the women's qualifying tournament to league playoffs. Their goal was worthy...to increase the number of women's teams participating in post-season play. The only negative is that women's flight winners are no longer permitted to advance straight to Cities. Now flight winners have to compete in the qualifying/league playoffs even if the team just won their flight 9-0. As an alternative, DTA could increase the number of teams playing post-season by having 2nd & 3rd place flight finishers compete at qualifying/league playoffs to earn a spot at Cities & compete with the 1st place flight winners. This is a great opportunity to thank the DTA for all they do to make Dallas tennis GREAT! They run multiple leagues throughout the year for all ages & they give back to the community & those in need. I'm sure its often a thankless job with too many complaints and not enough support or appreciation. Even though we may not always agrree on rules & formats, I believe we all respect & appreciate everything the DTA does to support our Dallas tennis community.

I am new to tennis with DTA. Completely shocked that 1st place teams are not allowed to advance straight to cities and must go through the play off process. I would love to see this changed.

First place teams should advance to cities without playoffs like most other cities in the country.

Totally agree!! Why did the second place teams also get the better schedule for playoffs? At the very least - seed the playoffs!

I appreciate your attempt to give us more tennis. But after being available and winning during our 8 - 10 week league commitment, summer is the best time for vacations and adding 1 more week/weekend AFTER the league to qualify for City Playoffs, (which is our goal) puts many winning teams at a disadvantage, possibly missing their critical players. Just a thought.
