What is Right and what is Just.
Has justice triumphed when a child has committed a heinous crime and has been given a reduced sentence? Is a proper excuse that of ignorance of towards the law? Are United State's laws that complicated that a person under the age of 18/21 does not understand the gravity of their actions. The pretense that a delinquent not knowing the weight of his actions is absurd. If children are subjected to the same degree as adults then they will profoundly understand the consequences and morality of their actions, yet if the legal system continuously defends these tiny criminals due to a variance of age then it's possible that the only lessen learned is legal administration after completing the age of 18/21. Ultimately that means that crimes perpetrated by minors will steadily increase, this is not out of the question. It is evident that crimes such as rape, murder, and burglary is not uncommon among juveniles but there are also lesser crimes committed such as physical abuse, hazing (In actuality it is sexual assault) and quite a bit more. Adults have the tendency to believe that these acts are not serious and that the child is going through a phase of development and that they are searching for themselves yet, how does raping a female or male justify this? How does murdering a peer define itself as soul-searching? How does robbing one of their sweat and invaluable time see itself as a child pondering a life question. How about the pettier crimes, is outward violence towards others acceptable? In the rare cases the child does rehabilitate himself but more commonly then not the child will succumb to become at least a delinquent in his later life. It's not that the legal system has failed them, it's in their nature. If a 17 year old male were to puncture a peer with a knife and send the peer to a hospital why should he be sent to a rehabilitation center instead of a prison. If the child was to be sent to prison then his actions would be weighted down more accordingly. If that same male were to instead fracture the his peer's arm would it be any better? Is it just? I believe that that "child" should instead be sent to a jail for a period of 3-6 months instead of a rehabilitation center, so that then he would know the that the act he has committed is unacceptable. Nothing needs to be said for murder, rape or burglary(of a serious denomination otherwise petty), these are obviously wrong under any circumstances. The gist is, that all minors that have committed a crime to be subjected to the same degree of an adult regarding the seriousness, and equability of the crime(If a child steals $20,000 then he should be sentenced to the same punishment as an adult stealing the same amount). This should be unanimous for all state laws or even regarded as a federal law.
