As a society, we are learning to adapt to Covid-19 being apart of our everyday lives however we will never forget about the lasting impact it has made within our lives, some more traumatic than others. Lets use our imagination and think about Covid-19 as a natural disaster, a hurricane.

Prior to the pandemic, with a consistent and traditional school schedule the learning gaps of students was a major topic in the education system many students were struggling with basic literacy skills, and needed additional support that we solely relied on educators to fix because it was "their job". Covid-19 strikes with little warning and we have been sheltered in place for two years. Now that the hurricane is over we have to assess the damages, our students.

The last two years has been far from consistent, traditional, or normal for students and now that learning gap has grown. Kindergarten to second grade students are experiencing something totally new, and our current third grade to twelfth grade students have been stuck behind screens with little to no interaction with students their age, and the classroom setting has now become an unfamiliar place that demands structure. Students are now not only struggling with literacy skills but also socially and emotionally, so now what about the students?

Now lets clean up and rebuild our community! Show your support by signing this petition to help bring a community engaging resource to students in need that are struggling academically, dropping out of school, and losing hope. We all have to cope, and help clean up the mess that Covid-19 has made together.

Lets get support for the students as they recover by bringing them a school funded resource free of charge. Lets help struggling families, single family homes, grandparents, and guardians who can not afford additional educational support services but gets told all the time their child needs help. Lets alleviate some stress and pressure placed on educators to close those past and present learning gaps. Lets show our unity for the school system so that they do not lose funding by being proactive in supporting students from dropping out and prepare them for the future. Lets show that we care about our future, THE STUDENTS of Stanly County, North Carolina.

Your support is needed and appreciated!
