COMMITMENT!...............we, the undersigned, pledge that in any forthcoming local or general elections WE WILL NOT VOTE FOR ANY CURRENTLY ELECTED PUBLIC REPRESENTATIVE WITHIN COUNTY WEXFORD............if Wexford General Hospital loses or has reduced the 24 hour A&E Department, the Maternity Department or the Paediatric Department.
This includes currently elected:
a/ local Councillors throughout County Wexford (COUNTY COUNCILLORS; TOWN COUNCILLORS and BOROUGH COUNCILLORS);
b/ the FIVE WEXFORD T.D.s;
c/ the M.E.P for the South East....
This issue crosses the divide between party interests and independent status and requires every last effort of EVERY public representative, quite possibly working together.
Reducing already challenged health provision may be interpreted by future generations as another form of institutional abuse in that low-income families will not be in a position to travel up and down to Waterford and so will tend not to avail of A&E services and, in every study of the importance of getting to A&E quickly in an emergency, very significant increases in the rate of loss of life are found - the further away you are, the more likely you are to die - an issue which directly affects the author of this petition.

Total disgrace. If they close the A&E they are basically playing with peoples lives. Im done voting for these people who do nothing for our county.
Keep our hospital open! we pay our taxes just like everyone else. sick of being treated like second class citizens.
About time. Every single one of them better listen up or they are out of a job next election. Wexford wont stand for it.
Wexford needs its own hospital. Cutbacks cost lives and you lot in the dail are forgetting who put you there.
My mother was in there last month and the staff were brilliant. Keep the services local. Stop taking everything away from us down here.

Living in Wexford with kids means we need the hospital local. You cant expect us to drive all the way to waterford in an emergency with a sick baby. Not happening.
