Sony has shown in recent months that backwards compatibility is no longer one of their major concerns thus far into the PS3's lifespan, and one of their main reasons if that they don't feel that many PS3 owners use the feature all that often. Now that all backwards compatibility (NTSC and PAL) is done through software emulation in 80GB models of the PS3, there is the possibility of improving the performance of PS2 games on the PS3 through system updates. Many of us 80GB owners have witnessed the horrendous slowdowns, freezing, and various other glitches present in some of the most high-profile PS2 games when played through software emulation in its current iteration. Sign this petition to let Sony know that we do want better backwards compatibility. Let them know that it is a problem that many more PS3 owners are concerned with than Sony probably realizes. The PS3 is supposed to be the ultimate piece of entertainment hardware, and what better way to achieve that status than to let us play our huge collections with full compatibility all on one system. Thank you to all who sign. Once this petition gets large enough, I will start forwarding it to as many Sony reps and customer support agents as I can. I want to get the message across, and the more help I get, the better the chance that they will listen.
