We the undersigned feel that a great injustice has been done to the Irish Soccer Team on the 18th November 2009. During the World Cup playoff between France and Ireland an incident occurred which caused the Irish Soccer team to lose a vital match, by foul means. A deliberate handball on two occasions by a French footballer led to a goal which should have been disallowed. We intend to send this petition to FIFA in order to have the match replayed. It is our opinion, the undersigned, that it was 'unsportsmanlike behaviour' on the part of the individual and in the interests of the credibility of football the right action should be taken in this instance and a replay rescheduled. We also petition the French Football Association to act admirably and call for a rematch. There is a precedent in the game for this, in 1999 Arsene Wenger called for a replay between Arsenal and Sheffield United in 1999 after his team won a controversial victory. His reasoning was that ''ungentlemanly circumstances" had occurred in the match. This act of sportsmanship we feel should be replicated for the good of the game.
