If a boy wants to wear a short skirt instead nothing would be allowed to be said to them , so why not let them wear shorts as long as they are smart ones and not football shorts etc

I think should apply to girls too, my daughter doesn't wear "girl" clothes, she won't wear a skirt, she should be allowed to wear shorts also. The kids comfort should be taken in to account, its hot, let them be comfortable to learn! Wearing shorts should not affect their ability to have an education!

What the child wears has no impact on how the learn .. unless it’s too hot and they then lose concentration

Teachers and staff need to be aware of the impact of heat on children. It does not facilitate a learning environment when children are hot and irritable. It makes the teachers life more difficult too.
The theory behind adhering to uniform standards as a way of maintaining behaviour and discipline should be waived when heat affects well being.
Increasing fluids is also a must and allowances made for toilet breaks.
