There is a proposal on the table to change the current boundaries of Westwood Charter Elementary so all residents between Santa Monica Boulevard and PicoBoulevard, and Sepulveda Boulevard and Westwood Boulevard will be assigned to "Nora Sterry" Elementary (score 6/10 in comparison to 10/10 for Westwood Charter).

This is an issue that affects the ENTIRE community -- whether folks have kids in school or not. One of the reasons that homes in our area are in high demand has to do with the school. A change in boundaries could have an impact on property values and perhaps this will help to motivate those whose children have grown or who do not track LAUSD issues. Most important, however, is the fact that sending children to a school on the other side of the 405 freeway destroys the ability of those families to have their children walk or ride a bike to school and breaks up an existing community. The 405 is a significant barrier -- both physically and by virtue of the traffic that blocks circulation for many hours of the day.

Our new proposal:
1) Keep the current boundaries (residential boundaries for enrollment are between North Santa Monica Boulevard and Pico Boulevard, and Sepulveda and Century Park East)
2)Eliminate the TK program
3) Implement a new enrollment policy: First come, First serve (just like Fairburn)
