Rates increase will have increased by 68% and is unacceptable.

There has to be a mistake in the calculations and this needs to be re-viewed. 67% increase in 5 years equates to 13% per annum - this is double the average SA CPI of 6%

It is unacceptable that my increase on rates since the last valuation has increased by 68%

If you want to see your increase you can check your 2012 municipal value on www.durban.gov.za:88/propertysearch.htm . Choose sectional title or full title. Then on next page fill in street number and street address. This will give municipal value. Minus the R120000 rebate and multiply by 0.00976 to get annual rates. Repeat for 2017 under www.durban.gov.za:89/propertysearch.htm. This time minus the rebate of R120000 and multiply by factor of 0.0127 to get annual rates. Work out you increase. It will be FAR higher than the increase in your municipal value because the municipality has increased the factor by 30.1% as well as increasing the municipal value. They have surely done the maths wrong.
