West Park Secondary School in Saint Catharines, ON has been scheduled to close after a series of public and private meetings done by several appointed representatives from each school. The decision was made on June 12th, 2012 to close the school. Based on predicted future student numbers and accommodations offered by each school, the signees of this petition feel that it is economically and practically an unfair decision, and that it would benefit the future student bodies of the DSBN if West Park were to remain open. The goal of this petition is to raise enough awareness (through online signatures) of the Ontario Provincial Government; who, upon seeing the fiscal information and available data comparing West Park and Thorold Secondary School, will agree that keeping West Park open is a better choice for taxpayers and for students alike.
