On Thanksgiving most high school football teams across the country will be preparing for their biggest rivalry game of the year. Every school has that one team they think about all year and that Thanksgiving Day game will give the victor bragging rights until next Thanksgiving. It is a game that invites past players and alumni who cannot wait to meet old friends and reminisce of past Thanksgiving Day games.

Unfortunately Stamford and Westhill will not have this experience this year because it was decided last year, that Stamford High School would not have access to their own field in 2018 for a game and day that has such great tradition.

Stamford and Westhill will play Wednesday. Now the game was moved to 5:00 pm on Wednesday. The last game of football that most of the Seniors will be playing is now at a time when very few spectators can actually go see the game. Many parents will not be able to get to the game with a 5:00 PM start time to support their sons. So after 4 years of blood, sweat and tears, and making sacrifices that start in early July, their last game will be in an almost empty stadium with not even the parents there to cheer them on.

Please sign to have the game moved to 7:00 PM when parents, fans and alumni can enjoy the game between these two great teams!!!

Updates

October 16, 2018

I have been hearing from so many of you who are just as heartbroken that these seniors might look up at the stands and see empty seats during their final game. We are currently working to get someone in the administration to acknowledge that 5:00 PM simply does not work for the families who have sacrificed so much to get these boys to this point.

October 16, 2018

Seeing the community rally behind the seniors has been overwhelming. It proves that so many of you understand why these boys deserve a proper final game in front of their families.

Let me get this straight. Stamford’s Public High Schools have been displaced from their own field for the traditional Thanksgiving Day game so that non-Stamford schools can play on our fields? Great message that we are sending to our players, students, families and community! If they can use our field, why can’t we play on their field on Thanksgiving?

We’ll be there to watch regardless!! But 5:00 is ridiculous! Especially with all the traffic that day. Not fair to either school!

Unreal as if its not bad enough that these poor kids have to play Greenwich and it's homecoming for them. TERIIBLE! They could have homecoming on the day they play Trinity. I agree Rob, about Darien!

5:00 is difficult for working parents. Hopefully the stadium rental is benefitting our athletic programs.
