The bill has been officially dropped and our local authority remains intact. This outcome demonstrates the quiet power held by those who insist that community decisions belong in the hands of the community. We should remain attentive to future legislation, but for today, we honor this achievement.

Final supporters
We, the parents and citizens most effected by what is occurring in the West Ada School District oppose Senator Winder's bill, S 1273, in order to protect future school districts from suffering as we have. Myriads of conclusive evidence shows that West Ada is being controlled by power and money and those with that power and money have used it to recall almost an entire school board that the parents and teachers DO like. Currently, those board members still have the right to step away from a nasty recall scenario and choose someone of "like mind" so to fill their position, at least leaving behind the values that the people voted for. Sen Winder's bill removes their opportunity to step away, stating that if they do the Governor will chose their replacement. We suggest that the Governor of the state of Idaho does not have enough information about any one school district, particularly ones far removed in Northern and/or Eastern Idaho, to choose someone who would know what is best for that school district. This bill then leaves trustees with only 2 unfavorable choices: #1 deal with the trauma of a recall and risk the money and power that initiated the recall in the first place to win in the recall election or #2 let the far removed Governor try to make a better choice. Senator Winder's bill takes local power away from the people which is not a concept we support. Please sign if this is not the government you are looking for in West Ada and Idaho.

Local Control! Interesting how this political party criticizes the over reach of the federal government, yet they constantly use worse types of tactics to restrict the people of this state. "Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth."
Has anyone found out who the contractor and developer were that contributed the lions share of the money used for the recall? I sure would like their names and if they have done business with the school district.
The worst line in that bill is that they can't pick someone "like minded". What? We voted in someone of that mindset but they must be replaced by a mindset we wouldn't have voted for? Basically he doesn't like that the voters could put in someone he doesn't want in so this gives him the power to change it. Insane. It is directly contradictory to how voting is supposed to work.
Chuck Winder doesn't even represent the Meridian area. He is anti union, anti teacher, and self serving. His bill is an attempt to take power away from voters/parents and put it back in the hands of his cronies. Stop the circus and let the board get on with business!
Keep our school under LOCAL control. Respect the decision of the people who voted in the school board election. We are not idiots. We made up our minds and voted for the candidate that we felt would support schools and carefully use our tax dollars to benefit our children.

I live in zone 2, and am completely disgusted with the arrogance displayed by Mr. Vuittonet towards constituents an fellow board members. Resign, sir -- you most definitely don't represent me.

The four new members of the school board were voted in over the last three years for a reason. The people have spoken. Senator Winder should not have the ability to take away our voice, because he doesn't like what he hears.
