This is urgent. The parked cars on London Road blocking traffic increase the risk of an accident as well as the speed of cars.

There are a lot of safety issues around this area! With cars mounting the kerbs outside the nursery to get through, with people speeding and also people using the road as an a1 bypass causing further restrictions and snarling up the roads especially at times when accidents have occurred making the village a danger zone to both children and elderly alike.

We live right opposite St Mary’s and are often alarmed at the speed vehicles move at on this stretch of road. Some traffic calming measures to slow things down and promote safety for our local families would be a very good idea.

It would be good to also try to do something about traffic flow management of London Road as a whole, particularly the section between Becket Gardens and The Crescent where due to parked cars on the bend there is only adequate space for one car width resulting in increased congestion and altercations.

The village has now reached tipping point with traffic volumes, due entirely to poor planning and contempt of residents views
This road is now extremely dangerous for school children, with traffic mounting the pavement a routine occurrence.
The revised parking restrictions have made the situation worse. Traffic calming and a 20mph limit required as a matter of urgency

This road is used as a rat run to bypass the A1, traffic calming would not only reduce the speed of traffic but also put people off using it that don’t need access. I raised this with the police when my daughter attended st Mary’s, 1995-2000, to no avail.
