This is one of the best examples of public school music education in the country. The students are smarter and more rounded because of it. Music and the Arts have been vital to the quality of life and social connection both before and during the quarantine. The repercussions of loosing this will be felt for years.

Happy to stand with parents/community to advocate & support my friend Mr. Eskin and the amazing music music program at WVMS. His students are often some of the finest musicians at our annual SVAB & SVAO festivals. Music education is a vital part of the education and enrichment of children and it’s even more critical now. Preserve our music programs at ALL levels. The effects of this Cut will last far beyond this school year. Further, Music is not a “nice” to have but an essential and rigorous component of STEAM education that has numerous other benefits that carry over into academic subject areas.

I am a proud LMSD alumnus and resident. I am music teacher today because of the strong, valued music programs in LMSD. Do not take choir, band, and orchestra from these students during the time when they need it most.

This is absolutely ridiculous. There is no reason why music ensembles can not continue with safety precautions in place. There is also the availability of virtual ensembles. Please overturn this decision.
