Moratorium Of Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendments.

Wellington North boasts that is has a " bountiful and proven agriculture tradition, and a quality of community and family life that make for a fantastic location to live work and play"
While it is indeed all of that, it is also host currently to 15 active licensed pits with an annual extraction of 1.345 million tons of gravel. There is no consideration to the environmental, economic, pollution, noise, or public safety. Many properties within a 10km radius of proposed pits experience devaluation. Infrastructure cost to the county rise due to more maintenance to accommodate the heavy truck traffic. The trucks in this area are also competing for the road with Mennonite children walking/riding bikes to and from school. This current application uses a haul road that is also a school bus route for both the public and catholic schools.
The township of Wellington North needs to investigate to "Total Cost" to the Township.

The Wellington North rate payers group, a group of concerned residents in Wellington North recommends Council adopt the following resolution.

That, Wellington North Council pass a resolution declaring a Moratorium on all existing, and future gravel related amendments to the official plan, and zoning By-law in the county. This moratorium will allow time to study the total cost of these pits. The study should include the Social, Economic, environmental, and the future impacts on the county.

By signing this petition you are supporting the moratorium resolution, and agriculture over aggregate.
