Supporting the social and emotional well-being of our children by enabling within family field usage
This petition requests the opening of NRC-managed fields in Wellesley, MA on May 19, 2020 for at minimum, the usage by individuals within a specific family who are self-isolating together.
Allowing this usage will enhance the social and emotional well-being of our families and our children at no public safety risk.
This petition does not encompass physical structures (playgrounds, dugouts) and could be limited to an easily measurable (e.g. 4) number of individuals, or to specific fields if the NRC is concerned about compliance or parking.
A limited opening of fields would be consistent with the data-driven approach to risk assessment currently being used by the Commonwealth.

The growth of this movement has caught the attention of local news outlets and I have scheduled an interview to discuss our proposal for field access. I am currently drafting a formal letter to the NRC to request a meeting regarding these usage guidelines.

Governor Baker announced reopening fields for certain uses and Wellesley should follow this guidance. Keeping fields closed is neccesary for families in the area who have nothing to do in Wellesley currently other than go for walks/bike. Families can still social distance from others while using fields. Also, it is unnecessary to have the first responders patroling fields when there are much more critical areas they are needed. Hot spots like Brooklyn NY are allowing fields to be open for the well being of thier residents. The town of Wellesley needs to step up thier efforts to support families and provide more outdoor resources.
PLEASE OPEN THE FIELDS. We just want to kick a soccer ball around as a family. We can easily keep our distance from everyone else.
Please reopen the fields. Exercise and sports interactions are essential for growth and mental health.
Similar to tennis court, or treadmill usage norms, field usage can be limited to a half hour, when another family is waiting.
Open Morses Pond beach too. People need places to go where they can be outside and have space.

My kids have so much energy and just need to run around. It makes no sense to keep the grass locked up when we are all just sitting inside.
