WEHS Athletic Field Proposal
Williamsville Central School District has a series of bond proposals that will potentially impact the home values and quality of life for the approximately 130 homeowners on Britannia Drive and Chasewood Lane. The Board of Education election, school budget, and bond proposals will be voted on Tuesday, May 19 at North HS.
The Issues, Our Concerns
· Crumb-rubber Infilled Synthetic Turf
· The Drainage/Water Runoff Plan
· Planned Increased Usage for non-scholastic league play, including most of the summer season – turning high school athletic fields into a regional sports complex
· Increased Light and Noise Pollution from new stadium lighting and public address / sound systems, as well as evening and above usage increases
· Increased Neighborhood Vehicular and Pedestrian Traffic and Parking
· Loss of the Use and Enjoyment of Our Private Residential Property from increased outdoor athletic activity (including non-scholastic usage), extended field hours, and associated nuisance noise, illumination, and privacy issues
· Decreased Property Values from problems and issues outlined above
· Increased Taxes for the lighting (not covered by the state subsidy) and for future maintenance of the synthetic turf fields (life span: 7 – 10 years)
