Continue webOS tablet development
Dear HP and CEO Meg Whitman, Recently, after making the poor decision to stop all webOS hardware development and spin off the Personal Systems Group, HP has decided to completely go back upon these plans. It has been brought to this communities attention that not only is HP mulling over its decision of what to do with webOS, it may very well "come back to market with webOS devices." The webOS faithful is one of the most passionate and committed grassroots organizations that exists, we are just that: very faithful to webOS. This is a petition stating that if HP decides to continue to make webOS tablet hardware, we will definitely stand by the product and purchase and support it, as long as it is well built, comes out in a timely fashion and most importantly, priced to sell. You are not Apple, and this is an uphill battle. You need to get consumers to buy into an ecosystem, and we wish that you continue development with webOS tablet hardware but in order for this to be a success you must initially be willing to sell the devices at a loss as well as give the devices to developers for free, to gain the trust of consumers and developers. If anything the recent fire sale of the Touchpad has proved this very well. Whether you sell webOS off to another manufacturer or continue to make tablet and mobile devices yourself with it, we will stand by webOS. However, we do not wish to see webOS dissected, torn apart and disassembled into other platforms and devices or sold off simply for patents. If HP kills webOS off in terms of using it or selling it for anything but the purpose of a mobile and tablet platform, we promise to never buy or endorse another HP product again. WebOS is an incredibly intuitive, easy to use and customizable OS, and to see it torn apart and used in any way other than a mobile OS would be an abomination. So in short, the following petitioners would like to voice their support for HP using webOS in anyway that maintains its integrity as one of the best mobile platforms available, and will stand behind and purchase any further webOS mobile developments, whether from HP or elsewhere. We would also like to voice our dissatisfaction with any short sighted cash-making venture that will simply extract value from webOS while simultaneously destroying the very thing it does best. Thank you.
