By signing our names below, we affirm that: 1.All Canadian citizens, when accused of an offence, are entitled to a fair trial that includes a hearing of all relevant facts in a open court that is administered by an impartial judge with a decision rendered by a jury of one’s peers. 2.The military tribunal process in place in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba does not meet this definition of a fair trial. 3.Omar Khadr has been charged by the American government with serious crimes and is about to receive a less than fair trial in Guantanamo Bay starting August 10, 2010. 4.Omar Khadr, born in Toronto, Canada in 1986, is a Canadian citizen. 5.Given that the United States has decided NOT to offer a fair trial, the Canadian Government must take immediate action to insist that Mr. Khadr receive a fair trial, either in an American federal court or in a Canada court which recognize his rights under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

The momentum behind this declaration is clear and it proves that people refuse to look away from this injustice. Now is the time to turn that energy into pressure by emailing your local representative and demanding they speak up for Omar Khadr.

Enough is enough. Bring him back to Canada and let him face justice in a real court like any other citizen.

The way this whole thing has been handled is a total joke. Human rights apply to everyone or they dont apply at all.
