Duty of care is not something that can be forgotten just because your patient is a refugee.

Australia wont be silenced on this issue & the current Border Force Act proves just how deceitful this government really is., Shame on this government.

This goes against everything I'm learning as a student nurse. It is not acceptable for any nurse registered in Australia, so this should be no different - a patient is a patient.

Legislation that it is at odds with human rights and professional codes of conduct and ethics can not be considered civilised or decent.

Read Pastor Niemoller poem: "First they came..." I am a social worker and a citizen of a democracy not a Totalitarian state. I will not be silenced.

It is a human right to claim asylum if in danger. It is the obligation of any country to assess claims in a reasonable time frame and to treat people in a respectful decent manner while they are processed. Further, it is an obligation of ant doctor, nurse or social worker to report abuse wherever it is seen.

Child safety and well being is a basic human right. It isn't earned by doing anything except being born. And it doesn't matter where in the world a child was born to be protected by mature adults. It is our duty as adults to protect children.
