The decision to discontinue our local Weather Radar Station at WPTA 21 seems to have been made by upper management, owners, powers that be. We STRONGLY disagree with this decision as a great number of residents have expressed for a multitude of reasons. Many of which are NOT just a matter of convenience. The residents in many rural areas, including our local Farmers rely heavily on this resource. Coupled with the narrative of NOAA and the radar, it has been a highly reliable and convenient source of information that dictates how our plans for the day are made. While technology has increased drastically,I fear that our dependence on the "new" may not behoove us under many circumstances. Cell service can be very spotty in many of our rural areas, lakes and campgrounds. Internet can also very extremely slow in these similar locations preventing radar maps from loading completely, if at all. And the most tragic aspect of this discontinuation is the effect that it will have with our elderly population. Too great a number of our population do not own, understand or wish to learn to use a computer, let alone an app on a smartphone. All we ask is that you reconsider this decision for the "good" of your fans, residents and neighbors.
