For parents of children with special needs, it is imperative that we know we have State Legislators that are empathetic and capable of addressing the concerns the teachers, parents, administrators and the whole community has with dignity.

My choice to opt-out has no bearing on how I feel my sons will do on this test, but has everything to do on not testing them on what they have been taught and my right as a parent to decide what is in their best interest. For you to suggest otherwise indicates ignorance of the very judicial system you were elected to uphold.

I have two Honor Roll children and I wish I had opted them out of state testing years ago.

Jaques has not exhibited the kind of leadership we need for issues around education.

I am very disappointed in Rep. Jaques' comments dismissing the Smarter Balanced test as a "little test", It has completely taken over our school--and we just started it this week. I have only respect for people who are brave enough to Opt out.

He is an ass. Reminds me of Boss Hogg. ... needs to go back to Hazzard County and leave New Castle County alone.

I encourage all that supported me in the last two campaigns for US Congress to ask for Rep. Jaques to step down and apologize for his remarks.

This test generates absolutely NO useful data, whatsoever. If it is a failure to not participate in a test with no useful data, then so be it.
